Joanna DaCosta was born and raised in Point Loma, San Diego, and is the 4th generation from a local Portuguese Tuna Fishing family. She graduated University of San Diego High School and attended college locally. Joanna has been in real estate since 2004, first licensed in Las Vegas, Nevada, she was a Top Producer for Prudential Americana. Over her 20+ years in the real estate industry, in addition to helping buyers and sellers meet their real estate needs, Joanna has worked in real estate continuing education, real estate agent compliance, and real estate transaction coordination.

 

Joanna has been the President of Point Loma Kiwanis Club since 2017, a charity that helps children locally and around the world. She oversees events around Point Loma such as the Easter Sunrise Service at Cabrillo National Monument, which was first held in 1950. She also donates and volunteers her time for the annual Ronald McDonald House “Ride for a Cause”.

 

Joanna has been running a local adult coed softball league at Cabrillo Rec in Point Loma since 2018. Each year, she hosts a charity tournament with her league which donates the proceeds to the Ocean Beach food and toy drive.

 

Joanna is also the Founder of Cookies For Troops San Diego, a program she created in 2016. This program encourages our local community to purchase cookies from a designated local bakery, which are delivered to our local firemen and troops and packed in cookie boxes that have been decorated by local school kids. Her maternal grandfather was a Marine and her paternal grandfather was in the Navy so her ties to our troops run deep. Because of Joanna’s efforts with Cookies For Troops, she has been personally invited to a private breakfast at the residence of Brigadier General Heritage of the Marine Corp Recruit Depot along with 8 other military dignitaries and to the Christmas Party of Commanding Officer of Naval Base Point Loma at his residence. She continues to work actively with the military and supports it greatly as a liaison for her community.

 

Joanna is also a professionally trained pastry and culinary chef, completing both programs on the Dean’s List at Le Cordon Bleu Las Vegas, while working full time in real estate. Joanna's favorite things include spending time with her friends and family, hanging out with her beautiful niece, and caring for her pets. You might catch Joanna cruising through Point Loma or Ocean Beach on her bike, walking her dog or speeding by on her skates as she loves to soak up the sunshine while enjoying our beautiful coastline.
